A 1960’s Coney Island Summer

The colourful, metal towers shadow the landscape, and pop shaped typography sneaks in at all angles. Yesterday’s photo essay by Elizabeth Pollard showed Coney Island only two summers ago, a strange bubblegum seaside in contrast to the grey streets of NYC. This reminded me of the beautiful pictures The Museum of the City of New York recently published in Time Magazine. The gorgeous images of seaside revellers have me more ready for summer than ever before. It’s fun to see the contrast with todays less glamourous (and less PDA sympathetic) atmosphere.
