Denai Moore

Denai MooreWords by Elizabeth Pollard

Jamaican born, Stratford raised Denai Moore’s outstanding new EP was inspired by her hero’s – Lauryn Hill and Bon Iver. Her soulful folk, produced by Plan B, feels stripped back and authentic. Like Iver and James Blake, her voice acts as an instrumental element to the melancholic melodies accompanied by piano and accoustic guitar.

At only 19, Moore takes inspiration from the confusion and heartbreak of entering adulthood; citing ‘honesty’ being an important factor to her process.

On her future Moore aspires “to someone like Cat Power, who can continually make music and evolve, that’s the dream.”

With a summer packed full of festivals, and an album on it’s way, I think we can expect big and very exciting things from Moore.
