Jackson + Rye

Jackson + Rye

One of the latest addition to Soho is the Richard Caring backed Jackson + Rye. Taking influence from the New York bars of past, Jackson + Rye is decked out in tiles, timber and leather. This place is a smart, suave place to come for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Serving up great grills like NY strip loin and lobster, egg white omelettes, prison eggs and scrambled eggs with jalapenos for breakfast and classics on the all day menu like salt beef reuben sandwiches and buttermilk fried chicken; with batter so light I could eat a bowl of fried chicken skins on their own. The spicy coleslaw gives a nice and gentle nudge of heat to what can be a boring side and creamed corn grits full of bite.

Jackson + Rye have really nailed the food, the style and the service, on this visit I sat at the bar and was welcomed by the bartender who had just the right amount of conversation to make to a guest welcome dining alone; even if being called sweetie by one waitress was a little patronising. Finishing of my meal with an old fashioned led to one of my favourite topics, spirits, with the bar man.

Jackson + Rye are serving classic dishes, good cocktails and a great atmosphere for an incredibly reasonable price.
