The Flying Pig

In a space right next to a kids play-ground and a stones throw from the yummy mummy centre that is Lordship Lane in East Dulwich, The Flying Pig is cooking up pulled pork by the pound. With big beers, big buns and big tunes, this is a new environment for this leafy corner of South East London.

On our visit, there were around 18 draft beers and ciders to choose from and many, many more in bottles filling up the fridges behind the bar, including the full range from locals, Brixton brewery. To get the full run down ask for the four page list of all the beers on offer but to find something you’ll really enjoy, ask the staff for a recommendation and they are sure to find you something to satisfyingly gulp down.

As mentioned, The Flying Pig is sending out a lot of pulled pork, with several variations of topping from the classic to the full English. The star of this visit was the cornbread & avocado that tasted like it had been deep-fried into crunchy perfection but still crumbly and moist on the inside. Pair that with some delicious buttermilk fried chicken, which has the tastiest batter I’ve had in some time, a nice cold beer and The Flying Pig could well become my favourite place of the summer.
