The Row

Both Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have gained credible fashion status for their unique style, so it’s no wonder they decided to leave behind their career as child actresses, and enter the world of fashion. However, this is no other celebrity line; chic, contemporary brand, The Row, can hold itself against all the big players in the industry.

At just 19 years old, in 2006, Mary-Kate and Ashley founded The Row in New York City. Named after London’s Saville Row, their collection was quite a bold move away from their famous grungy, vintage, bo-ho style, and into a sophisticated world of tailoring and contemporary design.

At their fall presentation in New York this year, the twins demonstrated how much they had grown up as designers over the last eight years. A subdued palette of cream, maroon and grey was combined with a voluminous silhouette and layers of texture. You can immediately see influence from British designers Pheobe Philo and Stella McCartney but with injections of Mary-Kates infamous hobo style.
